Registration
How to Register: The Division of Self-Determination Services provides a registration link per class. Complete the questions and click the "submit" button. You will receive an email with a registration confirmation or a waitlist notification.
Employees may contact the training registrar for additional information. Before receiving a registration confirmation email, all individuals registering for a course must have approval from an immediate supervisor before applying.
Participants with Special Needs
Please provide written notice of any special needs when registering. The training staff will make the necessary arrangements before the training sessions.
Prerequisites
The P.L. 93-638, the Law and Regulations, as Amended, and the Implementing Regulations course is the recommended prerequisite, and the successful completion of the course is encouraged. It will provide a historical and foundational understanding of the ISDEAA.
Waitlists
If the number of registration requests exceeds the maximum class size, a waitlist will be established for each course. Any available registration openings will be extended to individuals on the waitlist. It is common to receive registration cancellations. As availability occurs, the opportunity to register will be extended to those on the waitlist on a first-come, first-served basis.
Cancelations
Bureau Cancelations:
The BIA reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any training course. If a course must be canceled or rescheduled, BIA will notify registered participants as soon as possible.
If federal appropriations lapse, affecting the Department of the Interior, a training cancellation notice may or may not be provided. All training courses scheduled for the duration of the shutdown will be canceled.
Registered Attendee Cancelations
If a confirmed registration needs to be canceled, the training staff must be notified in writing as soon as possible, at least 48 hours before the first day of training. Cancellations after 48 hours require approval from the Regional Director of your respective region.
Absenteeism
Considering technical difficulties, there is a one-hour grace period for non-attendance on the first day of class. After one hour, the registered attendee will be dropped from the course, and they will receive an email notification.
Special Training Requests
Special requests for training are “unscheduled courses.” Regional and agency offices may request that a course be provided at a location within their region. The requesting office is responsible for the training site location, copying of training materials, and the course cost. Written requests identifying the specific course and proposed dates shall be submitted to the Chief, Division of Self-Determination Services.
NOTE: All training is subject to the availability of the instructor.
