Nestled in the vibrant city of Nashville, Tennessee, the Eastern Regional Office serves as a hub of support and collaboration for a rich tapestry of cultures and natural resources. Its jurisdiction encompasses Agencies in Cherokee, North Carolina; Hollywood, Florida; and Philadelphia, Mississippi. Additionally, our New York Field Office, formerly located in Syracuse, is currently establishing its temporary base in Cherokee, North Carolina.
The Eastern Region is home to an impressive diversity of Tribes, with over 62,000 Tribal Members representing 34 unique Tribes. Our service area spans 460,980 acres held in trust and 102,677 acres of restricted lands, each embodying a wealth of history and heritage. Geographically, the Eastern Region stretches from the picturesque landscapes of Maine to the sunny shores of Florida, extending westward to Louisiana and northward to Illinois.
Despite covering an expansive 27 states, the Eastern Region is distinguished by its unique cultural mosaic, as only 12 states host federally recognized Tribes. This dynamic region is committed to fostering partnerships that honor the traditions and aspirations of Indigenous communities while promoting sustainable management of its natural resources.
