The Job Placement and Training (JP&T) Program enhances employment opportunities for eligible American Indians and Alaska Natives to develop job skills and to find and retain a job leading to self-sufficiency.
Job Placement Assistance
Job Placement Assistance connects participants with employers and helps with job searches through job fairs, networking events, and direct referrals. It also supports participants who need extra skills to help them find and keep jobs so they can become self-sufficient.
This assistance also supports services to address cultural differences and improve the client’s chances for success. Support services may include counseling, referrals to other appropriate services, and gaining youth work experience.
Training and Skill Development
Training and Skill Development provides vocational training, on-the-job training, and workshops on resume writing, interviewing, and workplace communication.
Specialists help applicants by conducting needs assessments for employment services, placing them in a potential job, or providing training to enter a career field. They may also assist applicants with creating an Individual Self-Sufficiency Plan.
Support Services
To help remove barriers to employment, support services provide tools that cover upfront costs like initial union dues, moving expenses, and security deposits. Items that improve personal appearance, such as professional work clothing if needed, and childcare, among other essentials, may also be included in the support services offered.
