Climate change sustainability goals are integrated throughout the Navajo Region due to the EO 13653, which directs Navajo Region to take a series of steps to make it easier for Navajo Nation communities to strengthen their resilience to extreme weather and prepare for other impacts of climate change that might occur. Navajo Region is in the process of developing a Navajo Region Climate Change Adaptation Plan that will strive toward enhancing our ability to conserve, protect, and ensure the responsible use of our nation’s natural and cultural resources.

Navajo Nation has completed two climate change reports: “Climate-Change Vulnerability Assessment for Priority Wildlife Species” and “Considerations for Climate Change and Variability Adaption on the Navajo Nation".
