What is a Tribal Listening Session or a Public Hearing?

If a session does not fit the definition of a Tribal Consultation, it is likely a Tribal Listening Session or a Public Hearing.

What is a Tribal Listening Session?

A Tribal listening session is a meeting in which a Federal agency shares information with Tribal representatives and/or seeks information from Tribal representatives. Tribal listening sessions are less formal than Tribal consultation sessions.

What is a Public Hearing?

A public hearing is a meeting in which a Federal agency shares information with the general public and/or seeks information from members of the general public.
