Leadership Profile:Stuart Ott – Acting Director Office of Information Technology

Stuart A. Ott is the acting Director, Office of Information Technology for Indian Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Interior. He provides executive leadership over Information Technology (IT) programs within Indian Affairs, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Bureau of Indian Education. He oversees efforts to modernize IT operations, infrastructure and systems across three Indian Affairs organizations and serves as a contributing member of the Department's unified IT organization.

Mr. Ott previously served as the Chief, Enterprise Services Networks within the Department of the Interior's Chief Information Office where he provided network services to the Department's Bureaus and Offices both CONUS and OCONUS. This included the management of DOI's entire network infrastructure servicing 70,000 employees across 23 time zones.

A 35-year career federal employee, Mr. Ott has held senior roles within the Department of the Interior, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Bureau of Indian Education, the National Business Center, the Office of Indian Education Programs, the Office of Trust Responsibilities and the Department's Office of the Chief Information Officer. He has also served in a variety of capacities supporting continuity of government and continuity of operations and has directed efforts on improving and modernizing the Department's radio and spectrum programs, particularly for Law Enforcement and wildland fire programs.

Mr. Ott is a citizen of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, and he earned a degree in music composition and theory from Jacksonville University in 1987. Mr. Ott and his wife, Theresa reside in northern Virginia and his daughter, Michelle in Richmond.
