Announcement

Dates: February 13, 2024 11:00am to 11:05am

Current and prospective Indigenous students pursuing career and technical education (CTE) in agriculture-related fields can apply now to be part of the 2024 cohort of the Tribal Agriculture Fellowship (TAF).

  • Deadline: 11:59pm Central Time on Thursday, August 1, 2024
  • Who can apply: Current and prospective Indigenous students pursuing career and technical education in agriculture-related fields
  • How to apply:  Tribal Agriculture Fellowship Application page

TAF creates opportunities for Indigenous students to advance their education in agriculture, increase specialized knowledge, and preserve and promote the legacy of agriculture in Tribal communities. As a last-dollar fellowship program, it helps students close the financial gap so that they can focus on academic pursuits and have the time and resources to participate in educational enrichment activities.

TAF awards can be used towards tuition and fees, housing, meal plans, equipment fees and testing costs, and professional development.

Upon selection for the TAF program, fellows will be required to sustain suitable academic progress, provide semester updates to a TAF program coordinator, and complete two fellowship hours per month assigned by TAF staff. In addition, fellows must participate in all TAF required activities and serve as a peer mentor to upcoming fellows.

For a detailed description of fellowship guidelines and application instructions, visit the Tribal Agriculture Fellowship Application page.

About Tribal Agriculture Fellowship

TAF was established by the Native American Agriculture Fund (NAAF) and the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) in recognition of the need for more agriculture education opportunities geared explicitly towards Native students. Additional support for the fellowship is provided by John Deere, Farmer Mac, and the Farm Credit.
