Indian Affairs will be holding two consultation sessions on the funding methodology for the Small Tribe Supplement budget line item (formerly known as the Small and Needy program). This is a critical budget line item that ensures smaller Tribes receive a minimum base level of funding to run Tribal governments. However, the current base amounts were established in 1994 and are no longer sufficient. The President's FY 2023 budget proposes a significant increase to the Tribal Priority Allocation (TPA), and Indian Affairs seeks input on specific questions related to this funding as outlined in the Dear Tribal Leader letter.
