Small Tribe Supplement

Indian Affairs will be holding two consultation sessions on the funding methodology for the Small Tribe Supplement budget line item (formerly known as the Small and Needy program). This is a critical budget line item that ensures smaller Tribes receive a minimum base level of funding to run Tribal governments. However, the current base amounts were established in 1994 and are no longer sufficient. The President's FY 2023 budget proposes a significant increase to the Tribal Priority Allocation (TPA), and Indian Affairs seeks input on specific questions related to this funding as outlined in the Dear Tribal Leader letter.

Please register in advance for one or both online consultation sessions.

Written comments may be submitted to consultation@bia.gov by 11:59 pm EST on August 15, 2022.
