It is located on both sides of the Walker River and ranges from about 4 miles northwest to five miles southeast of Schurz, Nevada within the Walker River Reservation. The Walker River Indian Reservation is 42 miles south of the town of Fallon and 23 miles east of Yerington, primarily in Mineral County and in parts of Churchill and Lyon Counties, Nevada.

It provides water for agricultural uses on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation. The Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation is located in the northeastern part of Utah ~150 miles east of Salt Lake City, covering six counties: Duchesne, Carbon, Grand, Uintah, Utah, and Wasatch.

It is a Bureau of Reclamation project that provides water to the Reservation Division with acreage located in California and Arizona; and further subdivided into the Bard Unit and Indian Unit. BIA generates bills and processes collections of O&M fees for the Indian Unit. The Yuma project is located in the vicinity of the towns of Yuma, Somerton, and Gadsden in Arizona, and Bard and Winterhaven in California.

It provides water for agricultural uses on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation. The Project is in Elko County, Nevada and Owyhee County, Idaho (approximately 140 miles southwest of Boise Idaho and 100 miles north of Elko, Nevada)

It provides water for agricultural uses on the Southern Ute Indian Reservation. The Southern Ute Reservation is located in southwest Colorado in portions of La Plata, Archuleta, and Montezuma Counties.

It provides water for agricultural uses on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation and ceded lands. The Fort Hall Indian Reservation is part of Bannock, Bingham, Caribou, and Power Counties in southeast Idaho.
