Purpose:

To discuss DHS Components’ handling of sacred, ceremonial or cultural items. The event will provide a platform for participants to describe these items and how TSA, CBP, and FEMA might handle them in ways that preserve the items’ integrity. The information will be used to determine if further conversation or consultation is needed by any Component perhaps related to best practices, policy, procedure or training. The listening session and any possible subsequent actions are in furtherance of ongoing strengthening of the Nation-to-Nations relationships and providing Tribal members with excellent service.

Participants:

DHS: (tentative) DHS Office of Partnership and Engagement (OPE); Deputy Assistant Secretary DHS OPE Intergovernmental Affairs; Tribal Affairs Staff from DHS, FEMA, TSA, and CBP; Others TBD.

Audience includes:
