List of Programs and Services in the Pacific Region

The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Pacific Regional Office's (PRO) programs and services are primarily sorted into one of two overarching categories. The programs fall under the umbrella of either the Office of Trust Services (OTS) or the Office of Indian Services (OIS). Overseeing both of these Offices in the PRO is the Office of the Regional Director (ORD).

OFFICE OF THE REGIONAL DIRECTOR

The PRO's ORD is helmed by the Regional Director (RD) who is responsible to the Director, Bureau of Indian Affairs, for all functions, and activities assigned to the region. The RD represents the BIA in dealings with other governmental entities and serves as the representative of the Director, Bureau of Indian Affairs, with the responsibility of working toward strengthening intergovernmental assistance to the 104 Federally recognized Tribes in the PRO's service area while improving interagency and intergovernmental cooperation and coordination within the Region. The ORD provides program direction and supervision to four agencies responsible for the formulation and promulgation of Region's applications of national policies; for monitoring and evaluating operating programs and offices to ensure program effectiveness, efficiency, and conformance with established policies; and for obtaining adequate technical advice and assistance to support field operations.

OFFICE OF TRUST SERVICES

The Pacific Region's Office of Trust Services assists Tribal governments and allottees across the Pacific Region in managing, protecting, and developing their trust lands and natural resources. OTS programs aid landowners in the stewardship of their cultural, spiritual, and traditional resources, and help Tribal governments create sustainable sources of revenue and jobs for their communities.

OFFICE OF INDIAN SERVICES

The PRO's OIS facilitates support for tribal people and tribal governments by promoting safe and quality living environments, strong communities, self sufficiency, and individual rights while enhancing protection of the lives, prosperity, and well being of American Indians and Alaska Native people within the Pacific Region.
